Rahul Dravid: A humble man full of resolve and aggression

Rahul Dravid was that cricketer who relied more on hard work than cricketing aptitude. Through hard work and perseverance, he crafted techniques through conventional means and made them work in international cricket; a technique so perfect and versatile that it suited all conditions. He has been the unsung hero of the Indian cricket team with a modest smile. He straightaway made a name for himself in Test cricket, although he struggled quite a bit to make a mark in ODIs. However, during his career, he also began consistently scoring runs in ODIs, earning him the ICC Player of the Year award.

This amazing cricketer always upheld the spirit of cricket and tried everything for his team. Be it wicketkeeping, batting at different positions or different conditions, this man never turned down any request that came his way. Not that he couldn’t, but because he garnered the idea of doing it for his team, for his country. 2004 he achieved a remarkable feat by scoring a century against Bangladesh in Chittagong. He became the sole player to have scored a century in all ten Test-playing countries. He received numerous awards, including Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan.

Rahul Dravid was the best thing that happened to the Indian cricket team.
