Shikhar Dhawan is a professional Indian cricketer who plays for Delhi in domestic cricket and Delhi Capitals in the IPL. He started playing for Indian Under-17 and Under-19 teams before debuting in first-class cricket for Delhi in November 2004. I am a cricket player specializing in left-handed opening batting and occasionally bowls right-arm off-break. However, Dhawan possesses an innate talent for quickly identifying the trajectory and placement of the ball, allowing him ample time to position himself correctly and execute any shot he desires.

The reason behind his getting the name Gabbar is quite interesting. He got this name much before he started playing for India. In an interview given to famous cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle, Dhawan shared the incident. His Ranji team coach Vijay Dahiya named him. Dhawan, who used to field at a silly point, had a peculiar habit of cheering his teammates while fielding. He used to stand at a silly point in Ranji Trophy matches. When the opposing team scored a good partnership, his team would get a little down, and to cheer them, Dhawan used to shout ‘Bahut Yarana Lagtha Hai,’ a famous dialogue of Gabbar Singh from the movie Sholay. People forgot the incident, but he got the nickname ‘Gabbar.’ Also, to add to it, his tight mustache associates him with Gabbar as he has a dashing personality. And his fearless batting has also made the name quite apt for him, as he can be quite a villain for the opposite team with his bat.
