Take A Look At Steve Smith As He Shows Us How To Not Let Your Mistakes Control You

Learn from the former Australian Captain, Steve Smith, as he addresses a press conference on some important topics

Being a well-known person in your respective field, whether it be sports, music, actors, or an artist or any field for that matter is always great and commendable. However, have we ever imagined what cost this ‘being someone great’ has? Whether it be good or bad, being in the limelight always has its consequences and one should always be prepared for it.

We frequently see how well-intentioned, empathetic, and determined people make serious errors. “I would never do it!” we may exclaim as we sit there. What method can we use to be certain? Have you ever been distracted for even a fraction of a second from something you knew you needed to do? What makes you think you wouldn’t do it if the money was right?

Something similar was the scene with the former Australian cricket team captain Steve Smith. Smith was talking in a press conference for the first time since Cricket Australia suspended him from any form of cricket for a year. The suspension was due to a ball-tampering case in which Smith was reportedly involved. While the conference was taking place, Smith broke down several times and took full responsibility for his acts, and apologized to everyone concerned.

“To all of my colleagues, cricket fans around the world, and all dissatisfied and furious Australians, I accept all responsibility… There was a leadership failure, specifically on my part. I’ll do all in my power to make up for my error and the harm it has caused.”
“If any good can come of this, if there can be a lesson to others then I hope I can be a force for change. I know I’ll regret this for the rest of my life. I’m absolutely gutted. I hope in time I can earn back respect and forgiveness,” were the words of the former captain in the conference.
