Out of all the IPL teams, Mumbai Indians (MI), have left an exceptional impression. The franchise is maintained by Reliance Industries Limited. MI is undoubtedly one of the most flourishing teams in the IPL. They have been the four-time IPL winners to date in the years – 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019. And this year, they again bagged the champions trophy in IPL 2020. The Mumbai Indians team has got many powerful, skillful, and effective players from both domestic and international cricket. The team has played well and has done wonders on the IPL field.
Apart from being the most successful team in IPL, Mumbai Indians have been stuck into several controversies as well. One of the biggest controversies involving the team remains the 2012 Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai incident. It was after the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) match, when the king of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan was found to have a heated brawl with a security guard. This led to many confusions and the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) banned Shah Rukh Khan from entering the premises of the Wankhede Stadium for the next five years. Another one remains the 2011 Gabriella Pasqualotto case. Gabriella Pasqualotto was a cheerleader of Mumbai Indians who wrote in her blog about the ill-treatment they go through by the players. She wrote, “We are practically like walking porn. These cricketers are the most loose and mischievous I have come across.”
