The little master reached this achievement when he completed his ton against South Africa on the 4th day on the 5-day test match. He played for 258 long minutes in sun and faced 197 deliveries to reach this goal. It was his 7th century in that year.
Most of the top order batsmen were back in the pavilion. Players like VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, and Suresh Raina had already fallen into the traps of South African bowling attack. Under these circumstances, Sachin found a perfect partner to back him up. It was the great MS Dhoni who was standing at the other end.
Sachin hit 12 boundaries and just a single six to reach his century. All other runs were socred by singles, doubles and even 3s. It was his fourth century playing against South Africa. He scored this century in style after finding a gap through the covers and hitting a perfect boundary. Great players like Graeme Smtih and Hashim Amla acknowledged this inning by Sachin Tendulkar as it was worth their praise. It was his 50th test century, which no other batsmen in the history of test cricket were able to achieve.
This was one of his best centuries because India had lost all their wickets in the first innings for only 136 runs. With almost half of the batting line-up gone back to the pavilion, it was up to little master-blaster and Captain cool to take the second innings forward to score the mighty total of 620 posed by South African batsmen. Sachin scored 111 runs and lost his wicket after that. India lost the test match with only 459 on the board.
