There’s no denying that Leo Messi and his wife Antonella Roccuzzo have the most adorable children. Mateo, the couple’s middle kid, however, frequently steals our hearts with his impulsive ways. That’s what happened last weekend when the child accompanied his father to the Camp Nou stadium to see Barcelona play Betis.
Mateo can be seen carefully watching the game from the stands while sitting on his father’s knee in a video that has since gone popular on social media. Suddenly, Messi’s facial expression, as well as that of his teammate Luis Suarez, who sits next to them, becomes sour as they notice Betis is perilously near to their team’s goal line.
However, it was simply a fright when the squad failed to score, and Barcelona was rescued. Mateo, on the other hand, appeared to believe the ball had gone inside the goal and even believed the “fake goal” had been manufactured by his father’s squad as he celebrated the bogus score. Messi and Luis broke out laughing at his reply, and the Argentine player tenderly hugged his kid, who grinned with shame after realizing he was rooted for the wrong team.
Mateo, on the other hand, appears to be not so innocent when it comes to his blunders of cheering other teams’ goals that aren’t his father’s. According to a recent interview, Messi said that his second eldest kid frequently celebrates the goals of Barcelona’s main opponent, simply to irritate his elder sibling. “On occasion, the television is turned on, and he screams Madrid’s goals.” “My son Tiago becomes hot, and Mateo shouts at them to go to him,” he stated in an interview with TyC Sports.
Mateo’s antics affect more than just his eldest kid. During the same interview, the soccer player admitted to becoming a victim of his son whenever his team loses. “We were playing at home when we started kicking.” Mateo would tell me, ‘You are Barcelona, and I am Liverpool, and I bet I win.’ “He still understands a little bit,” he laughed.
