Times When Sachin Tendulkar Lost His Cool & Reacted In Unexpected Ways

Here are four times Sachin Tendulkar lost his temper and reacted in ways that surprised his fans and teammates

The ‘God of Cricket,’ Sachin Tendulkar, is the only person who comes close to matching former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s fury. Known for sticking to his strategy, reading the bowler despite the pressure, and evaluating his shots carefully, he was one of the few athletes who didn’t let his emotions get the best of him on most days. But even Gods become angry from time to time, and he was no exception.

1. When Ricky Ponting Got In His Face (2006 DLF Cup)

The umpire made a terrible call in the early stages of the game, dismissing the Indian batter after the ball collided with his back and went into the wicket-keeper’s hands. When the referee ordered him to bat again, Tendulkar became enraged and began marching back toward the pavilion. Ricky Ponting, the Australian captain, was the one who erupted this time. Before Sachin returned to the strike, the two had a furious dispute.

2. When VVS Laxman Didn’t Run (1998 Coca Cola Cup)

Sachin Tendulkar was entirely focused on rallying his squad to victory in Sharjah against the Australians. This inning, often known as ‘Desert Storm,’ is largely regarded as his best batting effort, with him scoring 143 runs in 131 pitches. VVS Laxman, a former teammate, may recall that day for a very different reason. Tendulkar attempted to take a single in the 41st over and crossed the halfway line, only to find Laxman glued at his end. Sachin would then have to dash across to the striker’s end before turning around and giving his colleague a good thrashing.

3. When Dravid Declared At 194* (2004 India Vs Pakistan)

Tendulkar was slowly approaching a double century on Day 2 of the Multan Test between India and Pakistan and was at 194* when skipper Rahul Dravid proclaimed the Indian inning and requested his batters to return. When Tendulkar returned to the changing room, he was enraged. Tendulkar subsequently said in his autobiography Playing It My Way, “I told Rahul that the event would have no influence on my involvement on the field, but off the field, I would prefer to be left alone for a bit to come to terms with what had transpired.”

4.When Sachin Tendulkar Blasted Sourav Ganguly (1997)

Sourav Ganguly said on the show Breakfast With Champions that he witnessed Tendulkar cry for the first time after India was humiliated by the West Indies after the entire team was removed at 81. Sachin was the captain at the time, and the loss had a great impact on him. He screamed the loudest at Ganguly, telling him that if he wanted to keep his spot on the team, he needed to go for a run every day from then on.
