Kabaddi is a famous sport in the Indian Subcontinent and South Asia, despite not being one of the most well-known sports in the globe. Two teams of seven players engage, with one offensive player, the “raider,” seeking to tag out as many defensive players as possible in a single breath without being tackled.
Anup Kumar
What better way to start our list than with the “God of Kabaddi” himself? Anup Kumar’s journey began simple enough, with the former VIVO pro kabaddi league player simply playing the sport as a child to pass the time. He is considered one of the most successful raiders in the game’s history. He spent five years with U Mumba before joining the Jaipur Pink Panthers. Kumar’s most illustrious achievement was captaining the Indian national team to gold medals at the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014.
Pardeep Narwal
If you want to leave a mark on the sport of kabaddi, becoming known as the “Dubki King” isn’t half bad. Narwal is now a member of the Patna Pirates in the VIVO pro kabaddi league, where he is regarded as the league’s top raider. Among his achievements are becoming the first player to reach 1,000 points and earning the gold medal for India at the 2019 South Asian Games.
Rahul Chaudhari
It’s a rare and wonderful story to go from being a defender to becoming one of the best raiders in the VIVO pro kabaddi league. It’s also one of Chaudhari’s genuine stories. Due to his flair raids, the Indian national team member is affectionately guided as a showman inside the sport. With a career average of 79.79 percent not-out rate, his trademark running hand touch has helped him become one of the sport’s greatest stars. He is only the second player in history to reach 1,000 points.
Deepak Niwas Hooda
Hooda’s backstory is a miserable one. His mother died when he was four years old, and his father died in 2013. He was born into a farming family in Chamaria village in Haryana’s Rohtak district. With almost 940 points won, 1765 raids, and 231 tackles during his VIVO pro kabaddi league profession, the current captain of the Jaipur Pink Panthers has acquired a reputation as one of the most clinical all-rounders.
Sandeep Narwal
Narwal’s career is one of adaptation and evolution, as he progressed from a corner defender to one of the best all-rounders in the game. His tough defensive approach is well-known in the game, and he became a key member of the Patna Pirates’ defense in season three. His ability to combine his unexpected pace and agility with his physical power has helped him prove himself as one of the game’s legends.
