Virat Kohli and Steve Smith are two of the best batsmen of this generation. No other batsman can come as close to comparison when these two are in form. Throughout their cricketing careers, Virat has scored 27 test centuries till date and Steve Smith has 26 test centuries to his name. Both batsmen almost have the same number of centuries in test cricket. Their technique and skills are completely different from each other but the results they produce are untouchable for any other batsman.
Virat’s first test century itself was against Australia. He scored 116 runs on 24th January 2012 in Australia. The match was played in Adelaide Oval stadium and even though Virat scored a hundred, India ended up losing the match. Virat was sent to bat at number six as the Indian team had more dependable batsmen like Yuvraj Singh and Rahul Dravid. This was also Rahul Dravid’s last test match.
Steve Smith’s first century playing against Virat Kohli was on 9th December 2014. This was in the Adelaide stadium as well. His incredible century helped Australia find a promising young batsman and also win the test match. He came in at number 5 and withheld the Indian bowling attack. He didn’t just stop to a single century. He scored a century in every match in the four-match test series against India. Comparing Kohli and Steve is just like comparing Ronaldo and Messi. There will be no end to the argument as they are both very good at what they do.
