Apeksha Fernandes Becomes First Indian Woman To Reach Final In World Junior Swimming Championships
The first Indian to compete in the World Junior Swimming Championships final, Apeksha Fernandes, placed eighth in the 200m women's butterfly final in Lima, Peru. The 17-year-old recorded a 2:19.14 and came in last in the Wednesday eight-swimmer final. As the first Indian woman to accomplish so at a world championship, Fernandes had altered her own "Best Indian Time" of 2:18.18 during the heats to advance to the final.
