Sultry Lighting, Desultory Writing… Longlegs The Most Talked-About Horror Film Of The Year, Is A Huge Letdown
Writer-director Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs has been hailed as the acme of eeriness by many critics. Having just seen the talked-about film, it feels like a classic instance of much ado about nothing. Perkins, who is the son of Anthony Perkins from Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, delivers the usual jumpscares in darkly-lit rooms with a peculiar penchant for an orange glow in the background. One could write a whole thesis on the consciously sultry lighting and the equally selfconscious desultory writing . But is it worth it to even go there? ‘Scaring’ All The Way To Banks: The Superhit Horror Genre
The irony in making a horror movie and the impact it manages to create, especially in Hindi films is exhibited for us to witness. This scary business is not scary to the business in any form, and, continues to be a genre that has managed to attract the most amount of footfalls in recent times, and somehow, has entertained the most as well. Review: ‘Exhuma’ has no jump scares but creeps the hell out of you with stupendous conviction to authenticity of its concept
Rating - **** (4/5) Feng shui - Anyone who has seen the more popular Korean or Chinese films and shows in abundance might be remotely familiar with the concept. More than a review piece, this is a call to the filmmakers out there, especially the ones who are interested in making horror - work on the dinkum purit | Click Here...
Review of ‘Tarot’: A banal & humdrum horror film that just exists because movies are being made
Rating - *1/2 (1.5/5) Release - Tarot has now been released in theatres in India. Some horror films just exist, because movies can be made by anyone and everyone. However, to think that banality and something that is just meh! would even be passable in today's day and age of having seen thousands of horror films - is kinda sacrilegious. I mean, you sign up for any horror film knowing that you will subjected to the usual tropes, jump scares and so on but you expect at least some innovation that deserves your attention.
