In this article, we’ll look at some of Android’s hidden or rarely utilized features.
1. System UI Tuner:
System UI Tuner is an Android 6.0 Marshmallow feature that allows you to tweak a few settings. Pull down the notification centre on your device and long-press on the Settings gear symbol for up to 5 seconds to enable System UI Tuner in Android 6.0 or later.
2. Default File Manager:
If you have an Android device, you might probably know that not all phones come with a file manager out of the box and that you must frequently install a third-party file manager from the Google Play Store. However, Android comes with a hidden file manager that you can use to browse through all of your files. Open the storage menu from the settings menu and scroll to the bottom of the storage option to find this file manager. The Explore option can be found here.
3. Android Beam:
Android Beam is a feature that lets you send data over a short distance using near-field communication (NFC). It enables the exchange of web bookmarks, contact information, directions, YouTube movies, and other data over short distances. Because your phone must support NFC, this feature is hardware-specific. If your phone supports NFC, you can use the Android beam function to exchange files with another NFC-enabled phone by touching it.
4. User Accounts:
This is arguably one of Android’s least used features. User accounts were previously only available on Android tablets, but with the release of Lollipop, they became available on phones as well. If your phone is shared by several people, you can set up distinct user accounts with unique security settings. Open the settings menu and select Users to create user accounts.
