Security Checkup will walk users through the actions necessary to protect accounts that have been compromised. Checking login activity, examining profile information, validating accounts that share login information, and updating account recovery contact information like a phone number or email are all part of this process.
Another method Instagram is attempting to keep Instagram accounts as safe as possible is through Security Checkup. However, they encourage everyone take the following actions to make their account even more secure:
1. Enable two-factor authentication: Enabling two-factor authentication is highly recommended by Instagram. In some regions, you will be able to safeguard your WhatsApp account using your WhatsApp number in the coming weeks. You may also use your phone number or an authenticator app like Duo Mobile or Google Authentication to set up two-factor authentication.
2. Update your phone number and email: Make sure your device’s email and phone numbers are up to date. Instagram will be able to contact you if something goes wrong with your account. Even if your information has been modified by a hacker, you may regain your account using these procedures.
3. Report content and accounts you find questionable: While Instagram is always upgrading its technology to battle new patterns and strategies used by hackers and spam accounts, you may also report specific pieces of material to us by hitting the three dots above a post, holding on a message, or visiting an account and reporting straight from the profile.
