It takes gut to show your full body on screen: Bharti Kumaria

The beautiful and talented film and TV actress, Bharti Kumaria, last seen in &TV’s Badho Bahu, is eager to check out the new digital crest. “The best thing that I like about web is that its characters and stories are relatable. I am open to girl next door or best friend roles.”

Asked as to what kind of web series she would want to be part of, she says, “Without a doubt, something like TVF and Timeliners. I want to model my career along the lines of Mithila Palkar,” says Bharti, who has done many reputed brand TVCs.

“Interestingly, I am still remembered for my bit role in Amazon Prime’s Inside Edge. Although I don’t talk about it, yet it resonates. This just goes on to show the power of the new medium.”

While Bharti, who has also done shows like Piya Rangrez and Ganga, is open to bold stuff depending on the character graph, she would not go as far as going nude like Kubra Sait did, in Sacred Games. “Full marks to her for having the courage to show her vulnerability and body on screen. This shows just how free they are as actors.”

However, being a real actor, she does want to say no to TV as well. “I am now looking out for juicy main lead tube characters. I really enjoyed my short bit in the above Haryana-based wrestler show. My look and chemistry with my on-screen guy was fun.”

“Although personally, I am not in favour of larger than life TV characters, I would take up mytho fantasy characters as well, for, let’s face it, Naagin sells.”

Bharti, who began her career with films i.e. Dharam Sankat, would not mind doing more films. “But yes, this time I will make sure that I don’t repeat the same mistake I made with the ill-fated Katha, co-starring Manish Paul and directed by Khalid Mohamed. This remake of the 80’s super hit conman film was shelved due to absence of buyers. Producer Anjum Rizvi was also missing. In future, I will only work with a full contract that I can show, and yes, take my money before dubbing. I had shot for a good 12 days, but alas.”
