Popular television actor Abhishek Malik, who plays Neel in Zee TV‘s Jamai No. 1, produced by Studio LSD, is currently at the center of an intense family drama that has left fans emotionally invested. The latest track has taken a dramatic turn, with Neel and Riddhi’s marriage leading to his mother, Sumati, disowning him. As Neel struggles with his helplessness—unable to reveal the truth about the marriage contract while seeking revenge against Kanchan Chotwani—Abhishek Malik opens up about his character’s journey, the challenges of portraying such high-intensity emotions, and the overwhelming response from the audience.
Speaking about the current track, Abhishek shares, “Neel is someone who has always respected his family and valued their opinions. But for the first time, he has gone against his family, and that decision comes with consequences. His mother’s disapproval, the emotional turmoil, and being thrown out of the house—this is the most challenging phase of his life.”
Recalling the intense confrontation, Abhishek says, “That scene with my mom (Sumati) was emotionally draining. Neel has never stood up to his mother before, but now, due to the marriage contract, he has no choice but to go against her. It was tough to portray that pain, but as an actor, these are the moments I live for.”
He adds, “I wanted to ensure that the audience could feel Neel’s helplessness. He doesn’t want to go against his family, but he also can’t abandon Riddhi because of the contract. The way his mother disowns him, slaps him, and curses him—it was a very powerful scene.”
The emotional depth of the track has struck a chord with fans, who have been sending messages of appreciation. “I have been getting so many messages from viewers saying how much they feel for Neel. It’s heartwarming to see the love and support,” Abhishek shares.
While the emotional turmoil has captivated audiences, Neel and Riddhi’s wedding look has also been a major highlight. Abhishek shares, “The wedding sequences were shot beautifully, and my look was designed to reflect Neel’s personality—royal yet understated. I wore a classic ivory and gold sherwani with intricate embroidery, paired with a matching stole and a pearl necklace to give a regal touch.”
Speaking about what’s ahead, Abhishek shares, “Neel is heartbroken and helpless as he cannot reveal the truth about the marriage contract to his family, but he is also determined to take revenge from Kanchan. Now, as a Ghar Jamai and trying to mend his relationship with his family, it’s going to be an emotional rollercoaster.”
