The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has been a once-in-a-lifetime event for actor-couple Pankhuri Awasthy and Gautam Rode, and it has also deepened their understanding. “When we first got married, we both had various projects on the go, and we decided that after those were finished, we’d go on some travels together.”
“However, projects arose and kept us occupied. Later, we, too, became trapped in the lockdown, as did others. It was, nevertheless, a fresh experience for us. As humans, we have had to learn and unlearn a great deal.” “I believe the epidemic period strengthened our understanding,” says Rode in an article in Hindustan Times, who played Saraswatichandra in the TV series Saraswatichandra. The duo is ecstatic to collaborate on a music project and enjoy screen time.
Awasthy, a Lucknow lass who has appeared in films such as Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and the daily serial Razia Sultan, considers working alongside her actor-husband to be more of a personal experience than a professional one.
“It was a lot of fun for me to perform and portray a role opposite to him. Though, at the end of the day, we are actors, and acting is our profession, it was more of a fun affair for me because I had never worked with Gautam before, but I am confident that as we plan to do more work together in the future, things will only get better,” she says.
