Adhvik Mahajan to return to Hindi films

Adhvik Mahajan who is seen in Naagin 3 will get back to films.

Adhvik Mahajan, aka Ajitabh Singh of Naagin 3, is all set to make one more go at films. After debuting with Ram Gopal Verma’s Contract (2008) and doing a few regional flicks, this Jalandhar dude had moved to TV, starting with Colors show, Bani- Ishq Da Kalma, back in 2013.

Now, he will play the lead role in the upcoming movie, Hoja Zara Matlabi, which is a remake of Amol Palekar’s super hit film, Rajnigandha. This Harish Raut directed project also includes Ruslaan Mumtaz and Ruhi Chaturvedi in the main leads.

“I don’t want to say more, preferring the maker to make more announcements as the November release date comes closer.”

However, Adhvik has no plans to leave TV. “Today, the chasm between both mediums is fusing. Yet, there are some for whom TV is second fiddle. I want to do good roles, irrespective of mediums. The web is a great platform for TV artists who don’t get time and space to give wings to their creativity.”

He did not think his earlier choice of films was wrong. “To be honest, I am not yet in that position to choose projects. Coming to Mumbai at a young age without a godfather, I took whatever work came my way. Getting to work with Ramuji in my first film was big for me.”

As an artist, Adhvik wants to model his future career along the lines of new-age artists such as Ayushman Khurana, Rajkummar Rao and Vicky Kaushal. “These guys don’t have larger-than-life images. I am especially fond of Vikrant Massey, who has successfully crossed over from TV to films. It all boils down to talent; if you have the goods, you will one day find your place under the sun.”

Talking about his career graph, Adhvik says, “I have learnt more from failures than from success, which has not come my way much.”

Although Bani was not a hit, ratings wise, Adhvik will always hold this show about NRI marriages closest to his heart, “For I learnt so much about the acting craft and the camera. I must have done 4 to 5 films before coming to TV, but I never got the fame and following that the vastness of the tube medium offers.”

“The TV ballgame really changed when I essayed a baddie in super hit STAR Plus show, Diya Aur Baati Hum, and now Naagin.”

Any qualms about not being a lead in either of the above projects? “Sometimes, it is better to do parallel leads in a big show/films, rather than being the main face of properly promoted affairs, be it TV or films.”

His other TV projects have included Jamai Raja, Meri Durga, etc.

All the best, Adhvik!!
