After failing to make his Bollywood mark with the not-so-great-performing, ensemble cast film, Shorgul (based on Muzaffar nagar riots),last year, Aniruddh Dave is yet again trying to shine in films. He is now doing a lead role in well-known director-actor Satish Kaushik’s next production.

“I can’t give more details. It’sbetter that Zee Studio makes the relevant announcements. We have finished the shoot. It was quite a hectic month-and-half-long schedule in Haryana. I would be up from dawn to dusk, doing the scenes and song picturisations. Many years ago, Satishji had promised me a lead role, impressed by my different TV acting skills. I am glad that he has kept his word.”

Point out that few TVactors have succeeded in crossing over to films, and Aniruddh, who began years back with Raajkumar Aaryyan, gets a bit edgy, saying, “As an actor, I have always attempted different kind of roles on all major channels, and will follow the same template in films as well. As for success or otherwise, these things are not in my hands, for it all boil downs to success or otherwise of a film, which is subject to factors beyond my remit.”

“I will not say that most of my TV shows have been long running. Although they might have wrapped upin a year, my characters, such as my negative Indu Singh (Ruk Jana Nahi),and comic Kanhaiya Chaturdevi (Aaj Ki Housewife Hai…Sab JaantiHai) avatars, made me a house-hold rage. This was followed by the robot character in Yaron Ki Tashan. To my credit, nobody recognized me in it.”

According to sources, the above film seems to be a female-dominated story, as the tentative title of Chhoriyan Chhoro Se Kam Nahi Hoti suggests. In this situation,we wonder how much prominence Aniruddh will get.

Besides TV and films, he had also done a couple of web series for Vikram Bhatt. “I really enjoyed doing Untouchables, directed by Vikram’s daughter, Krishna. She was quite happy with my work and told the same to Sir. I am glad that I could break the notion about the skills of TV actors.”

Looking ahead, Aniruddh would not restrict himself to films. “I am open for juicy roles;the medium is irrelevant. It could be films, TV, web or theater, where I first came from.”
