Fans of the beautiful and talented Preetika Rao are in for a treat. For now they will be able to watch their favourite actress in a never-before-seen avatar, in the new romance-meets-mystery/horror &TV series, Laal Ishq.
“One of the main reasons for saying yes to this weekender episodic series was that I wanted to push the envelope and do stuff never done before. Also, since my co-actor was Priyank Sharma, it was really pleasant, for we are friends for a while and were first penciled-in for Radha Krishna, which, unfortunately, did not see the light of day.”
Are you the ghost? “No comments; why don’t you watch it for yourself? Having said that, it could be Priyank as well; you never know.”
So would you want to be locked in a mysterious haveli with your guy? “Why not? It will be fun, but yes, I would not want the chudail to spoil the party. On a more serious note, our series is not your classic Ramsay horror, as you must have seen from our first two stories. It goes much deeper.”
Looking ahead, this actor-cum-singer would want to do a limited series, next. “I prefer short and sweet stuff. But if something long-term but juicy comes along, why not? I would also be game for more episodic stuff, if it as classy as Laal Ishq. My character here is really interesting,” says Preetika, whose last show was the ill-fated, Love Ka Hai Intezaar (Star Plus).
Former journalist Preetika, who first began with south films, later found her TV calling with Colors show, Beintehaa, which made her a household name.
When asked about her equation with Niti Taylor, who is also part of the above story, this sister of Bollywood actor Amrita Rao says, “We have become good friends in a short period of time. We even hung out after shots. Once I went to the beach with some friends and asked her to join in, as she lives close by. We all had a blast. Hope to have more such outings.”
Can two industry girls be friends? “Well, it entirely depends on the equation the concerned girls share with each other. You can’t be friendly with all.”
In closing, Preetika would be open to doing interesting web series as well. “But yes, I am not comfortable in the dare-bare zone, as most web series seem to be, as of now.”
