Tell us something about your character in the show ‘Yeh Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar’?

Dia is well educated, well-read, confident, independent woman, who is very much comfortable in her skin color despite the fact she has been judged all her life because of her complexion. She ignores the

judgements passed on by others and lives her life in her way and has been fighting discrimination. She believes that “Achievement has no colour”. She respects her elders and always help the ones in need.

Tell us about the various preparations that you have done for your character in the show?

As an artist, I always start working on the backstory of the character. It’s important to understand the who, what, where, why of the character. I believe that’s what brings flesh and bones to the character. I would

start it with the easiest question “where was I born”

What is in store for the audience from the show?

Ye Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar is the journey of Dia, who is dark-complexioned and her fight with society. It is an Inspiring show with a meaningful message that one should never judge anyone based on their skin color.

After all we humans are vulnerable and deal with the same kind of emotions.

How do you feel working with Star Plus and on their new show ‘Yeh Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar’?

Star Plus is the most popular Hindi Entertainment Television Channel which creates content that inspires people in some or the other way and I’m glad that I’m leading a show with such a strong message on such a big platform.

Have you taken any particular inspiration for your character? If yes, then tell us why and how has it helped you portray your character?

I am a movie buff, be it Indian cinema or western, I love everything about cinema, especially the art of filmmaking, dialogues and cinematography. I admire the works of Smita Patil, Shabana Azmi, Deepti Navel and Meryl Streep. So watching their work has always inspired me to work better and find new aspects of the character and to connect with the audience on an emotional level.

Tell us about the bond you share with your co-star Ankit?

Ankit is the sweet-natured, fun-loving guy. I appreciate Ankit as an actor being present. It makes the scene even more powerful. We both bring our own craft and have a discussion before every scene. We are

always up to try new things, to hear each other and respond to what’s happening in the moment, in the scene. There has been a sense of trust on set.
