“I feel truly humbled and happy by this and things catapulted to another level after Bigg Boss”, says Amit Tyagi as he sews his way to his second reality show venture, ‘Lock Upp’, mounted by Ekta Kapoor. While taking a leap to Bollywood from television has become quite a worthy trend now, it’s not every day that a Film and Television covering Journalist finds himself becoming a TV Star. But that’s what the ‘godsend’ story of Amit Tyagi narrates in short. From being one of the eminent entertainment journalists, from Aaj Tak, he has now prospered to become an adored TV star all across. It is fair to call him the only Journalist covering Entertainment Beat who has now become a reality show star in the making.
Amit Tyagi, known for speaking his mind, the ultimate hub of all news and gossip from the TV and Film industry, lives with his dream and marks an oath to fulfil them all. But to add on one big phrase synonymous with Amit Tyagi, it is “Saas Bahu aur Betiyaan”. Amit has quested and stitched his way into millions of homes with the show that gave insights and updates of the Hindi Television world on the ‘Sabse Tez’ news channel Aaj Tak.
As paths opened up, Amit made his way into reality shows and sailed off with Bigg Boss. “My journey in Bigg Boss has been totally unexpected!”. He further recalls, “I used to cover Bigg Boss as a journalist and the team knew me and knew the stronghold I had on the show format. It was during Bigg Boss 13 that they liked the way I asked questions to the contestants and then they decided to call me for Bigg Boss 14 where I went in the house with Farah Khan. Together we shot an entire episode and this year for Bigg Boss 15 I entered the show with Salman Khan and the response from everyone was fantastic.”
Amit goes on to say, “A good journalist is a storehouse of authentic information and in the times of all the social media noise where everyone is a journalist or has an opinion, it’s very important to provide authentic information. I guess that’s why the Bigg Boss team would rely on me and think of calling me for not just one but three seasons. After appearing on the show, I started sensing a difference, at the risk of sounding pompous, almost started feeling like a celebrity because generally we just hang around celebrities and take interviews or talk to them but when you get this kind of recognition you do know your personal value goes up. Post Bigg Boss. I also got called for Alt Balaji and MX Player’s Lock Upp were one of my videos with Kangana Ranaut went viral. I think it’s my direct approach that people like so much.”
Amit, the entertainment editor of Aaj Tak today has had a long onerous journey to the top. It’s been two whole decades for him in the industry. He sailed off his ship as a journalist from ANI, the news wire agency, on a junior level and eventually moved to Zoom and Times Now uncovering his way to Aaj Tak after. It’s been 15 years for him in Aaj Tak now and within the entertainment space, Amit has covered everything right from films to tv shows to OTT series, music to the awards night, fashion nights so on and so forth.
He triumphed upon and bagged many accolades for his show Saas Bahu aur Betiyaan and he has got nothing but gratitude for the same. He says, “The true reward for all the hard work are these awards and recognition. I feel truly humbled and happy by this and things catapulted to another level after Bigg Boss. I have been called from small towns and big cities across the country, in Mumbai, Delhi, Jammu, Patna to judge the talent shows and I have enjoyed the process so far.”
Sky is the limit for sensational Amit Tyagi.
