What are the challenges you feel you have as a quiz show host?
Well, challenges are there everywhere and I will treat it as it comes with every passing day. But I am excited to be a part of ‘Mind Wars’ as it allows me to do something very different from my past projects. I belong to the generation that has grown up watching ‘Bournvita Quiz Contest’ on Zee TV and I look at this show as a great opportunity to bring back the excitement and the competitive streak that we would feel as kids while watching other bright kids participate and compete on a quiz show on national television.
What are the ways you have prepared to be on par with the young students of today?
Well, we have done enough research to ensure the content is good. However, as far as preparation is concerned, it will be more of an impromptu thing and hence I realize I always need to be on my toes to match up with the intellect of the kids. Today’s kids are extremely smart and intelligent and as a host, I have done my best to match up with them. I look forward to interacting with some of our country’s brightest young students as I become a part of their journey of discovering India on a much deeper level through the game show. The content, I hope, is as refreshing and engaging for the audiences as much as it has been for me as a host.
Who are your favourite quiz show hosts and if you had to pick one among them as your favourite, who would it be?
Well, Amit Ji (Amitabh Bachchan), Derek O’Brien, Shah Rukh Khan are some of my favourites. I have seen them throughout and they are such lovely people to look up to. But, if I had to pick just 1 as my favourite, it has to be the ‘Shahenshah of Bollywood’ Amit Ji. He is simply the best.
Lastly, how does it feel to be back with ZEE TV where you started your career?
I started my career with Zee TV and this is almost like returning home. I have always been an ardent fan of the channel for bringing unique concepts like Antakshari, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Dance India Dance, India’s Best Dramebaaz among others to the audiences. I am glad I am back and I am having a lovely experience.
