Shubhangi Atre the talented actress has had a fascinating and creatively satisfying journey in the role of Angoori in &TV’s flagship and long-running show Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai.
In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Shubhangi talks about her life as Angoori and much more.
Excerpts:
What gives you a new high as a performer?
I feel and portray every new track in my show. I enjoy genuinely how our episodes progress. It gives me a new thrill daily when I get to perform differently. This is a challenge in itself and overcoming it is encouraging.
It has been a great journey that you are having in the role of Angoori Bhabhi. Take us through the gains from this successful journey?
I feel joh dikhta hai woh bikta hai (what is seen actually sells). For a long time now, people have been witnessing me as Angoori bhabhi. I’m enjoying every bit of this journey. Angoori has become the other identity of Shubhangi. Having said this, I am also remembered for my onscreen avatars in Kasturi, Chidiya Ghar and Do Hanson Ka Joda.
Have you started to emulate anything that Angoori Bhabhi does in real life too?
I feel Angoori keeps me rooted in my country and tradition. I can easily relate to many women and their contributions. Yes, this is one way to keep people entertained and happy.
How do you juggle between work, home and your family? What is it that you want to tell actors who are married and have a working ambience?
My family is now independent. We understand each other so well that we are happy about it. We all as a family help each other to live an easy and happy life.
When you look back at your career, how satisfying is the feeling of juggling well for you?
Not just actors but every married person, If they are earning, that doesn’t mean they have all the rights over the rest of the members in the house and force them to function accordingly. I feel each member is putting some effort and we should always try to understand their contributions. At the end of the day, name, fame and money are celebrated along with family only.
Do you harbour any regrets?
I feel happy that I have come a long way. In fact, I now look forward to more avenues to explore in the digital medium. I need to explore so much more as an artist. Each day is a new experience and I m happy about it. No regrets at all. I am very very much satisfied.
Do you urge to break away from the Angoori Bhabhi image? Or are you happy with whatever has come your way and continues to excite people?
Bhabiji is already iconic and I am happy about it. Earlier there used to be this theory about breaking a set image with a new role. But I feel now we are on social media and people know who’s Shubhangi. So I don’t look at it that way. But for sure I would love to play more new onscreen characters and make them popular and add them as my other name.
