Ankita and I refused to smooch for Ishq Aaj Kal: Angad Hasija

Dapper dude Angad Hasija has really enjoyed his experience of doing 3 back to back seasons of ZEE5 drama web series Ishq Aaj Kal.

Says Angad, “Given that my hotelier character is a very restrained guy who does not even smile, considering his past baggage (alcoholic mother), at first I found it tough, for in real life, I am a very jolly happy-go-lucky guy.”

“Arshad is the only totally positive person in the show; rest everyone has some or the other grayish shades. This was all the more fun for me as an artist, for my last character was all out black (Waaris, &TV). Also, after a long time, I did not drop my clothes even once.”

Here Angad adds, “I am very happy to note that after a very long time, my on-screen pairing with Ankita Sharma has been really appreciated. It takes me back to my Bidaai days, where my character Alekh, and his pairing with Sadhana (best friend Sara Khan) were a rage. Fans were once making pictures of us together.”

“Ankita and I get along like a house on fire, for both of us are not only Punjabis, but even hail from the same city (Chandigarh).”

Interestingly, despite this close bonding, both Angad and Ankita refused to smooch on screen. “We were just not comfortable, hence asked the creative to tone it down to just a kiss. Personally, I am not in favour of such scenes, yet, accepting that the web format has certain requirements, agreed to a kiss.”

This Dheeraj Kumar production will now move to a climax with a fourth season that will soon go on the floors. “But I will not be a part of it as Arshad is killed in the 3 rd avatar.”

Looking ahead, Angad is open to juicy projects across all mediums, be it TV, web or cinema. His other well-known shows have included Phulwa, Amrit Manthan and Saubhagyalaxmi.

Unlike several of his small screen compatriots, he has no qualms in doing supernatural. “Never say never; you just might see me in Naagin 4 playing an icchhdhari chachhundar (mole rat). As actors, we should not fight shy of any genre. And let’s face it, this also sells big time.”

Best of luck, Angad!!
