Paras Kalanawat last seen in Star Plus show Mariam Khan: Reporting Live is back to the same channel with Rajan Shahi‘s Anupamaa after a brief web detour.
“I play Anupamaa’s (Rupali Ganguly) loving son. Samar is quite different from his siblings, who don’t care much for their mom but dote on their dad (Sudhanshu Pandey) more. In a way, they set an example of how kids should not behave with their mom.”
“Our parent-child equation story will be loved by one and all,” says the actor.
Paras is enjoying working with Rupali, “I have been her big fan ever since her Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai days. I am getting to learn a lot from this very grounded and talented actor.”
Paras, who first started with Meri Durga, has been lucky to get to play diverse genres. Apart from dabbling in the horror space with Kaun Hai and Laal Ishq, he has also essayed a grey character in his ZEE5 series, Ishq Aaj Kal.
“The latter was more on the lines of Baazigaar, where my character turns negative to take revenge. It was a pleasant experience as I also got to share screen space and lock horns character-wise with talented artists like Rajesh Khere etc.”
“The best part of Anupamaa is that it is a cross between TV and web, as we shoot in the real space eschewing over the top drama,”he adds.
His other web series, Dil Hi Toh Hai is yet to finish shoot. “There too, I got a chance to sink my teeth on a juicy character.”
Paras is not game for bold. “I have turned down several such offers from big OTT networks.”
When asked what went wrong with Mariam Khan, Paras quips, “Everything. At first, apart from Mahima Makwana, there were supposed to be four leads (me, Sheena Bajaj, Priyanka Kandwal and Avinash Mishra) as well. But later, the story changed, and the emphasis moved away from us. Post leap, we were given the option of either continuing with smaller roles or moving out, and we
chose the latter.”
Best of luck for Anupamaa, Paras!!
