Fahmaan Khan the suave and dashing actor has been very choosy when it comes to picking up any new project. Looking at his career graph which has shows like Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Ka, Ishq Mein Marjawan, Mere Dad Ki Dulhan, Apna Time Bhi Aayega, we can firmly say that Fahmaan looks at playing different roles in every new outing.

Now, the actor gets his chance to play Aryan Singh Rathod (ASR) in Star Plus and 4 Lions Films’ successful show Imlie.

In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Fahmaan talks about his role and the unique preferences he has as an actor.

Excerpts:

Tell us about your character in Imlie?

It’s again a character that I’ve never done before, and I don’t just say that. I did have my apprehensions when I first heard the gist of the character that maybe it will be like my previous character, but as I got a little more insight I realized it wasn’t. Aryan is grey, he’s someone who has gone through one such trauma that has changed everything he ever was. We have also shot a few scenes showing how he was in the past. A fun-loving cheerful guy who enjoyed life, very playful but something happened in his life that has made him bitter. I am going to have a lot of shades to play as Aryan and man, am I excited for that.

You have got back to back opportunities in your career and never had to wait for work. Do you feel blessed?

Very blessed and I believe the blessings come when you put in the hard yards. It goes hand in hand. My close people, my family, and friends know I’ve given it my everything at all times. And when you see the results of that you feel elated. But, it’s important to have your head on your shoulders and I believe that happens only when you know the journey has been tough and beautiful.

Imlie’s leads Aditya and Imlie are loved as a Jodi. Are you worried of a hatred factor coming in for you with viewers? How do you see your entry on a larger perspective?

Not at all. I know that the audience today knows that characters are being played by actors. The character might get the hate if we set out to show that, and that just means I’m doing my job well. Aryan’s journey is going to be portrayed in a way that there won’t really be hatred. It will be mixed emotions.

You have an amazing physique. Tell us the secret to it.

Haha. Thanks guys. There’s no secret. It’s a decent diet and taking some time off to give the body a little bit of exercise to keep it feeling strong. You don’t need to do much to stay fit. The human body wants to be fit. All your organs and your nervous system want to keep running smoothly, you just gotta help it a little to do so.

How do you think you have grown as an actor with every experience?

Growth is constant. You realize with every passing day on the job that each scene could be done another way. I learn and try and inculcate that in my job every day. I’ve grown as an actor. I remember my first appearance in the first small part I played. A single scene in an ongoing show. I was shivering. Couldn’t deliver my lines whatsoever even though I’ve had a background in theatre. It still was a new platform and very different from the stage.

What kind of roles entices the performer in you?

I always want to explore new characters. I don’t want to be typecast as a one-track actor. I love playing someone who’s fun and full of life too. That takes a lot of energy and I think I have that. Also maybe a guy from the streets. Unruly uncouth and uneducated.
I’d love to play an old man
I’d love to play an army man
I’d love to play a character from Indian History
A cricketer
Jee the list goes on ?

Is there a dream role in mind?

A film with either Imtiaz Ali I guess or Anurag Kashyap. These people make great films. Dream role would be Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean
