Yogendra Vikram Singh has had a splendid run in the role of Samrat in the Star Plus show Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin, produced by Cockrow and Shaika Entertainment.

Samrat has been troubled by destiny, as Patralekha (Aishwarya Sharma) and Virat (Neil Bhatt) have ruined his life by hiding their love. The result of it is that Patralekha is married to Samrat now, but the latter is not able to digest the fact that his wife and brother did not tell him the truth.

Yogendra who has starred in films Saand Ki Aankh and Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is very much satisfied with his first major outing on TV!!

Says Yogendra, “Initially, I was skeptical to play the role. However, I wanted to portray the role of an Army officer. Such officers live in the moment. When on duty, they are very stiff and rigid with their lifestyle. However, when they come home for a vacation, they are very lively. You can very well see a different side of them. This is because they are aware that they need to live in the moment, as they are not sure of the future. So I kept my character that way, as Samrat has come home on a vacation. He is lively, happy and enjoys being with his family. I think this is the attribute in the character that viewers loved to watch. All credit goes to the writing team and for the dialogues. I am thankful to the help rendered by the entire team and Producers.”

The audience response for Samrat in Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin has surprised me: Yogendra Vikram Singh 1

So what is the future of Samrat? Will we see him get back? “Well, I can’t tell you anything as of now. I am also clueless.”

Tell him that the fans want to see him back on the show and he laughs saying, “Yes, I have been getting huge response. People are heartbroken seeing how Samrat’s life has changed. They want to see him get back. I did not expect this much of a response for myself. The audience response for Samrat has surprised me to tell you the fact. I am now chilling at home. But I am glad that this show has gotten me more offers. I have already got two good opportunities knocking at my door.”

So are you taking up something new? “Well, not as of now. I am enjoying my time at home. I have not been habitual to shooting for long hours on TV. This is my first long project for TV. So I am taking it easy as of now.”

Yogendra Vikram Singh started his career with a Broadway show in Dubai for two years. After he got back, he shot for Saand Ki Aankh and Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. “When I got this offer for Samrat, I was very excited to play the part. In between all this, I have done a short film Laghushanka which released recently. It is getting an amazing response.”

So how was the overall TV experience? “It has been very good. I got the creative support on the set. I was helped by one and all to learn more about the character. Yes, the shoot hours are different and longer for TV. But it was a good experience. The way this show is being approached is very realistic and organic. There is nothing flashy about the characters. The writing is fabulous and is helping every actor on the show. Our numbers are also good. I am hopeful of the numbers growing for the episode where Samrat leaves the house.”

Ask him if he is game for another TV show and Yogendra quips, “Of course!! I have enjoyed this stint and will love to get into another challenging role.”
