Aye Mere Humsafar is different and yet relatable: Achherr Bhaardwaj

Currently seen in Dangal’s latest show Aye Mere Humsafar, Achherr Bhaardwaj speaks exclusively with IWM Buzz on his role in the show, his onscreen character Lakhan Kothari and his experience of bonding with his co-stars while they work.  His character in the show is quite different than the rest he has played before.

So, tell us what made you say a yes to Aye Mere Humsafar?

It was playing on the thin line of being good and a little bad made me say yes to this role. It’s like playing two different characters which will challenge me as an actor. It’s super fun playing Lakhan.

Tell us about your role in Aye Mere Humsafar?

Lakhan Kothari is one of the three brothers of Pratibha Devi in the show. Lakhan is a smart, money minded person who does not hesitate to deceive a little. He respects his mother  and is also a little scared of her and her principles. He loves his materialist wife and is always worried about improving their image and status in society.

What makes the show different from other shows?

The story of Aye Mere Humsafar is different and yet so relatable. A family being held by a woman of morals and principles but her sons and daughter-in-laws are not like her. The struggle of holding the family together and mainting values and traditions with a contemporary writing makes this show not only different but also a learning for the viewers.

Tell us about your bonding with the co-actors?

Bonding has to be great to play such roles what I am playing. Fortunately I know Pooja Singh very well so the rapport is great and she is a great actor which helps me reciprocate.

How has your journey in the industry been so far?

My Journey  till now has been a great one. It has helped me evolve as a person and as an actor. The struggle time makes you see the realities  of life. One starts to observe life more closely and as an actor or as a normal person that’s what you need to grow.

How did you spend your time in the lockdown?

I went back home before the lockdown happened. Fortunately my house is located in outskirts of the city so I got a chance to cycle around and do a little bit of farming for workout. I spent the rest of my time learning screenplay and writing and watching films

Do you follow a fitness regime?

I follow a strict fitness regime. If I do not visit a gym, I make sure I remove atl east 20 mins daily to either run or do body weight exercises.

How does it feel to be shooting after a long break due to the lockdown?

It actually feels great as I feel alive again. Being on the sets is where I belong.

Has the pandemic taught you anything?

The pandemic has taught me that there is no force greater than nature and there is nothing more important than health and your family. Some things can’t be explained and one should not try to challenge and distort nature.
