Being part of a mythological show is like getting into an unknown territory for model turned actor Paras Chhabra.
The former Splitsvilla contestant is now essaying the role of the mighty Duryodhan in Star Plus’ newly launched mythological, Karn Sangini produced by Shashi Sumeet Productions.
Says Paras who was earlier seen in Badho Bahu, “This is the first big role of my career. I have earlier played the negative lead in Badho Bahu, but I entered that show midway. So I did not get utmost satisfaction. So Karn Sangini is the show wherein I will be seen from day one. I am happy for this development in my career.”
Paras has worked a lot to play the part. “Duryodhan is certainly not a totally negative guy. This show will depict his goodness and the angle of romance in his life. As per me, Duryodhan was a very politically correct person. The best part about Karn Sangini is that we are not showing the Mahabharat war.”
Paras who accepted this genre of mythology for the first time, got literally scared when he did miserably before the camera on the very first day of shoot. “Well, I prepared my lines really well and had no problem whatsoever. But when I stood in front of the camera with the attitude of Duryodhan all ready to say my lines, I could not get one particular word right. I was very much scared and was cursing myself for having taken up the mythological show. You would not believe, if I say that I took 25 takes to get that one word in Hindi right. I was nervous and thought I would be replaced from the show. But my Director instilled confidence in me and told me that my body language was right and I had to work on my dialogues. I was asked to attend the workshop wherein the attitude of Duryodhan was pushed into me within 4 days (smiles). I was a completely different person after this workshop. And today, I enjoy my shoot a lot. I love playing the character and have also got good feedback from people.”
Paras tells us that he has been able to bring in stability in his personal life too after taking this role. “I used to hate going to the gym and work on my body. But I had to get into mighty good shape for the role. Also I started to take care of my health and eat right. My acting has also improved a lot; I do not say it but people around me say so (smiles). I have become very disciplined when it comes to getting up early and going through the chores of the day. I am punctual to sets and in fact reach before time now. So all said and done, this role has changed me completely.”
Way to go, Paras!!
