Lady luck is finally shinning on talented and good looking TV actor Sonali Nikam. Her effort in &TV show Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi is being critically applauded. “Yes, the show is doing quite well with all the required twists and turns.”
She does not take the lower numbers as a dampener. “I rather take it up as a challenge to perform better. Having said that, ratings are a part and parcel of the game and its existence or not should not affect our output as artists, we need to keep putting in our best, day in & out.”
Sonali, who is playing a widow in the show, says, “The main stay of our story is to effect a change in conservative sections of the society that a widow must be given a second go at life. It is not her fault that her hubby has passed away. It is sad that society is hankering more for the dead rather than the living. I am glad that at least in urban India widows are not looked down upon anymore.”
Sonali has had a slow but upward trajectory, having done various character in shows such as Hum Dono Hain Alag Alag,Thoda Hai Bas Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai and Kaali – Ek Punar Avatar. Her luck first changed with Aadhe Adhoore on Zindagi TV.
“Like my current show, it too was a bold subject with complex characterizations. Watching my performance as Jassi there, producer Nivedita Basu was convinced that I will be able to pull off as Suman in Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi as well. My stint here is tougher as the layers are more complex.”
Looking ahead, Sonali is open to lot many TV projects, “Having said that, if I can help it, I will want to avoid going down typical TV lead route. I always make it a point to make my characters look as real as possible, no matter how much drama is infused. Being natural I will be better able to connect with the masses,” she ends.
Have a great stint ahead, Sonali.
