Rajveer and Pratibha Ranta’s chemistry has been accepted well by viewers now.
In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Rajveer Singh talked about his role and show.
Excerpts:
What prompted you to take up this role?
I always wanted to work with Full House Media, with Sonali Mam and Amir Sir. Earlier I had an opportunity but that did not work out. So finally I am working with them.
Did you have apprehensions entering a well-set show? How did you overcome it?
Yes, it is difficult to enter a well-set show. The viewers had already accepted the character. Having said that, I was not nervous to get into the well-set character of Neel. I knew the Directors and co-actors on the set will help me mold into the character. It was pre-decided during the mock shoot that all around on the set will help me connect with the character. Also, I had my own preparations. Though there was no fear, the expectations to live up to the challenge was always there. I was working towards giving my best. That is how I started getting into the skin of Neel.
Describe how you plan to play Neelkant?
As I said, we had a discussion with the Producers, Creative and Director over how to approach the role. I saw the first 15 episodes of Qurbaan Hua to know what Neelkant as a character is. However, I wanted to play Neel the way I wanted to do it. I did not want to copy the same kind of mannerisms adapted earlier, as it would have been a very uncomfortable zone for me. I wanted to concentrate on the newer mannerisms I had to put into the role.
You were introduced in the show with a half-burnt face. What were the challenges in playing such a character?
There are so many big actors who have enacted tougher and more challenging roles. This was a small stint in the storyline wherein I had to put in a patch to show that my face was burnt. Yes, it was very hot when I started off and I had an irritation on my face upon wearing the patch. However, the production and creatives took care of this concern very nicely. That stint was also for a few days. So it got over soon.
How is it working with Pratibha Ranta?
There was a mock shoot with Pratibha post which I started shooting with her. She brings in fresh energy. She is a spontaneous actor and reacts to sequences on the spot.
Do you want to take a leaf out of Karan Jotwani in the manner in which he played the role?
For me, this show has started from the beginning. I have not taken the initial 100 episodes to my mind. That’s a tough burden to carry. So I put my first foot forward by thinking that the show starts with me. I took the nuances and understanding from the earlier Neel, but for me, it all started from the point where I entered.
What is your forte as a performer?
I do not like to go deep into the line to line execution of what is to be done before the camera. I believe in spontaneity as an actor and take pride in improvising my scenes. I love it when I get the space to perform.
What are your expectations from this show and role?
Whenever you start something new, it comes with new challenges. We get into a new work with all the expectations. You obviously put in your hard work, when your sincerity and honesty is seen in your work, and you respect the talent of others around you, the expectations actually increase within you. But it is always better to work and not look forward to much of an expectation. The result is not in your hands and it depends on many factors.
Your message to fans
For the fans of Qurbaan Hua, I feel sorry for them as they were connected with the earlier Neel. But as there is the saying, the show has to go on. Now I will make sure that I can impress and convince the viewers of the show with my acting skills. I am confident of it.
