Shararat girl Shruti Seth, who will next be seen in Gurudev Bhalla’s upcoming Star Plus show, has been trolled on Twitter since she put out this post targeting Siddharth Shukla pinning Shehnaaz Gill in Bigg Boss 13, calling it barbaric violence.

Bigg Boss drama tops burning national issues: Shruti Seth

“I am really amazed at the level of priorities in our nation. No one cared a fig about my other recent tweets on JNU kids being thrashed, except for four or five nasty comments calling me jobless, etc. But one post on a show that I don’t even watch has seen a torrent of attacks.”

“I repeat, I don’t watch this show, period. I just read disturbing posts from friends of what is generally going on in the house.”

“I just retweeted for a friend who requested support, saying such kind of stuff can’t go on national television. After seeing the ghastly clip, I too felt that such kind of toxic masculinity is not done.”

“I did not expect such a backlash, with people asking me do I know the equation between Shehnaaz Gill and Shukla, and that she had hit him too. I have no clue who this guy is and what he has done. He might be a good guy, as his fans claim him to be,” added Shruti, who will also be seen in Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming series on the Indian National Army.

“Honestly, I really don’t care about the what and why. I have a bigger problem with voyeuristic TV per se, which allows you to show a man pushing a woman for ratings. I am not saying that the woman is right if she too has hit him. But is this what we want to watch?”

Shruti, who has always been vocal about political issues on social media, says, “Twitter is really funny, where actors are open season. If you speak for an issue, you are asked to mind your own business. If, on the other hand, you keep mum, you will then be ripped apart for being spineless.

Please let us know what to do.”

“On a more serious note, why should actors not talk politics? We are citizens first, our profession comes second. Don’t we pay taxes?”

Shruti eventually deleted the tweet. “I could not take the barrage, but these guys have now followed me to instagram as well.”

“Even the media is following up on my Bigg Boss comments. Is a TV show more important than the burning national issues of accountability and student safety? I am just amazed at the joke, which is on us,” ended she.
