Jyoti Sharma is on a short break after her Zee TV show, Aisi Deewangi Dekhi Nahi Kahin suddenly shut shop. “I am now spending some time with my folks and will be back soon. I am also using this opportunity to pamper myself.”
So what kind of role would you want to essay next? “I am open to any assignment which has potential to challenge the actor within. Every role is fun, for we get a chance to be somebody else. Having said that, I would love to explore my comic bone in a laugh riot, if given an option”, says Jyoti, who has done other shows such as Amita Ka Amit, Diya Aur Baati Hum, etc.
Ask her about the unfortunate experience with the producers (Piyush Gupta, Jatin Sethi) of her above show, where she and co-star Pranav Misshra had accused them of inhuman treatment, and she says, “The biggest lesson I have learnt is never to compromise on your self-respect and health. But yes, this has to be done in conjunction with the overall welfare of the show.”
Looking ahead, Jyoti would be game for web series as well.“I am open to any medium which allows me to better my acting chops.” But she would not be able to do bold stuff. “I am not comfortable in that zone. Apart from that, I am game for anything else, be it drama, thriller, etc.”
Jyoti, who began her TV career as assistant director (Chhoti Bahu, Lakhon Mein Ek, etc.) before moving in front of the camera, says, “That stint really helped me, as I learnt lots of technical details (camera work and lighting), which makes me understand what is required of me as an actor. I have also become very punctual, knowing how time-constrained our shooting schedules are.”
“I have grown as an actor, working with senior actors and technicians, who have all taught me something or the other. I am much more confident before the camera than I was in my first show. Having said that, I still have a long way to go.”
Jyoti, who is also a dancer, would love to shake a leg on big-ticket dance reality shows like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. “Again, my dance attributes, like expressions, have helped my acting as well.”
