The break from TV was for good: Kanwar Dhillon on his comeback with Pandya Stores

Kanwar Dhillon on his new Star Plus show Pandya Store

Handsome hunk Kanwar Dhillon, who has made his mark as a brilliant actor and has had a good run on television featuring in most of the popular shows Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha was missing from the television scene for a while now.

Last seen as an antagonist in Internet Wala Love, Kanwar is back with a bang. The actor is currently seen as Shiva in Star Plus show Pandya Store. In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Kanwar spoke about his new show, character, and more.

How do you feel to be back on-screen after a long gap?

I feel glad to be back on-screen as the gap was an unplanned one. During this phase a lot of things happened in my life, first I fractured my leg. Later, I recovered and lockdown happened because of which everything went for a toss. When the lockdown was lifted, my health was not good so I was taking care of myself. I had a lot of offers but I had to reject them because I wanted to be confident enough to start working again. I have always been choosy about my work and now that I am back, I am looking forward to the audience’s reactions.

Why were you away from the screen? How did you utilize your free time while you were away?

Post Internet Wala Love show, I was working on a web series and was also in talks for a film but both went for a toss because I suffered a major injury and had to leave those projects. It was unfortunate, however, I took it positively and I believe the break was for good. Maybe Pandya Stores was in my destiny. I utilized my free time by watching good content and films. I was also working on myself and got back in shape. It was important for me to look good because if I don’t look good then I won’t feel good and I won’t do justice to myself as an actor. I needed some time so that way I can get back with a bang and entertain my fans.

What made you choose Pandya Stores?

The concept was amazing. I was blown away when I heard the narration. Post that I saw the original Tamil series Pandian Stores and really liked it. The daily is different as it is an ensemble show. This is one of the most unique characters that I am playing on TV and I am thrilled about the same. I hope things turn out well.

What are your expectations from the show?

My expectations are that it should do well and connect well with the audience. Viewers are already in love with the show. Honestly, I don’t expect anything from any show that I do as I have a simple funda in life that is I do my best and give it my all and leave it to god and audiences for the results. As an actor, my job is to do my best and I will do the same with Pandya Stores

Did you go through any physical transformation for this role?

I was already working on my body and I was in the middle of my journey when the show was offered to me so I did a couple of look tests. They just found me perfect for the role and that was a motivating factor. Shiva is an unpredictable positive guy. He is like a coconut, he is strong from the outside but has a soft heart. The physical transformation included being beefed up, muscular, and rugged. I have restricted myself to not lose much weight as that would make me lean and that would not do justice to the role. Till now, I am getting good feedback for the transformation.

Are you scared of shooting during the COVID-19 pandemic?

Initially, I was apprehensive, however, I did a music video, a few months back and that was during the initial COVID-19 phase. Having said that, I believe how long will people stay at home, all have to go to work and all you can do is take extreme precaution during such time and keep your hands sanitized. Even I am taking all precautions.

Any final message?

I would like to tell my fans that I am back for them and I would want them to love and support me in the show. I hope you all love Shiva as I love Shiva. I am looking forward to their feedback.
