His brooding eyes, nonchalant endeavour yet poignant persona make women drool over him. Immensely popular amongst youth, good looking, smart and intelligent Parth Samthaan is all set to make a dash in the popular fiction space playing the titular role in Star Plus ambitious next, Kasautii Zindagi Kay season 2, helmed by master storyteller Ekta Kapoor. Ekta, in an earlier chat with IWMBuzz.com shared that despite cynicism, she knew Parth was perfect to enact the role of Anurag, one of the iconic characters in the realm of Indian television.
At the recent promotion event for the show, we met up with Parth and threw few questions at him. Here’s what he replied:
Your thoughts on playing Anurag Basu?
It feels great to be playing such an iconic character. I know it is a huge responsibility as well. But I am not overawed, for times have changed. The old Kasautii was a hit back then, but now it is up to us to show our mettle. I will always give my 100% in making the audience connect to our characters as equally as then.
What is your personal take on Anurag?
Anurag’s character is modern day Mahatma Gandhi with his mantra of simple living and high thinking. Having said that, he also wants to progress in life, but not at the cost of his principles.
Your thoughts on working with Balaji?
I had done my first episodic show with Balaji, and now I am back with the makers of the best TV content. I am sure even our show will be an equally big hit.
What does Ekta (Kapoor) expect from you as Anurag Basu?
She wants me to be very confident, for Anurag is a very deep person who likes to connect with equally intense people. You can call it an experimental zone; hope it gets the desired traction.
Did Vikas Gupta, with whom you have buried the hatchet, help you net Kasautii?
Ekta Ma’am chose me, for I had the honesty for the character; nothing less and nothing more. I am just glad that she has entrusted me with such a powerful character. We never discuss the past. Life is anyways all about moving on, right?
What are your initial thoughts on co-star, Erica Fernandes?
Being an experienced actor, Erica knows what is to be done. I hope to learn a lot from her. We are quite cordial with each other, knowing that we will be spending quite a lot of time with each other during shoots. So you can say we are in a happy zone for now.
What is the status of your long-delayed film?
Stuck for the moment. They have their ways of dealing with it. As an artist, I am concentrating on projects that work for me.
You earned lots of name and fame from Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan?
I really enjoyed doing that MTV musical, learning from several characters. It will always remain closest to my heart.
Will you get the same love from the mainstream GEC audience?
I can’t force them to like me, but will surely try my best to impress them as well. All the characters in Kasautii 2 have some sort of honesty, and if the audience can connect to that, I guess we will be on our way.
KYY also went digital?
Web allows actors of all mediums to work with each other. We are getting more and more platforms to showcase our diverse talent, which is a good thing.
What is the best thing about the acting profession?
That we get to play so many different characters in one life.
