Talented actor, Manish Goplani, who is doing the new Zee TV show, Yeh Teri Galiyan, feels he still has a long way to go.
“Right now, as the title of my new show suggests, I am at a crossroad. There are many options before me, but it is important to choose the correct road to march ahead in the path towards success and happiness,” he says.
Talking about the concept of the above Cinevistaas Limited offering, he says, “What you are does not depend on where you come from. Although hailing from the infamous red light area of Kolkata, my character Shantanu works hard and becomes a rich businessman. His childhood love, Puchki (Vrushika Mehta), though was unable to get out of Sonagachi.”
“It was quite a challenge creatively, to show my character growth, as you need to be careful of not hurting people’s sensibilities, which anyways gets easily irked today,” he avers.
So how is the show doing? “So far, so good. We have got good ratings for our first week’s efforts. There is a lot more drama waiting to unfold.”
Manish, who has done very diverse characters (Thapki Pyaar Ki and Detective Didi), says he is lucky to get people who trust him. “It is not easy to stay away from being typecast. I always make it a point to give my every outing 100%, and yes, I try to be as different as possible in my acting and mannerisms.”
Manish, who recently returned from Indonesia where he did a song, an ad and a web series, says, “The digital makers there don’t take life too seriously. Their concepts are also different. They don’t have elaborate sets, preferring to zero in on real locations, after a quick recce.”
He would not mind doing a desi web series as well. He smartly avoided the question of overdose of s*x and sleaze, saying, “I have no comment except that it is a business.”
Best of luck, Manish!!
