The challenge for me is to stay silent and show emotions through my eyes – Namik Paul

Namik Paul talks about the challenges involved in playing a ghost in the Sony TV show.

Handsome hunk Namik Paul is excited about playing a ghost in the new Sony thriller show Ek Deewana Tha (LSD Films). “Wearing those huge red contact lenses is a bit troublesome, but it is fine. Also the challenge for me is to stay silent, as my character is not uttering a word, which again is a bit tough. As an actor, you like mouthing longish dialogues. The challenge is to show all the emotions through my eyes and body language as there is no dialogue delivery. I also need to present him differently to prevent monotony setting in the absence of dialogues. But rest assured he will talk a lot down the road.”

Namik last seen in Aye Zindagi on Zing regards himself as lucky for he really has got a chance to do something different. “Normally you end up only enacting shades of the rich arrogant dude. One of the main reasons for saying yes to this project is the twist in the tale.”

Ask him about TV horror, and he says, “I have not seen them much; so I am not really comparing. And honestly if you want to trump others you end up losing the plot. So I am doing what I am told and enjoying it. I am very glad that we have managed to get the required visual richness required for the story, lest we would have appeared cartoonish.”

Here he admits that the online audiences is getting impatient and want all the layers to be unfolded soon. “But they need to understand that thriller genre needs time for all the elements to unfold and how can one tell a daily soap story in just three weeks. Having said that reading those bizarre theories which some are writing on Twitter and Insta means we are beginning to make a mark.”

Point out that the ratings have dropped (0.6) this week, and he says, “KBC effect is over (first week 1.1); but we are confident that the numbers will rise as we have a great story to tell and you have not seen anything yet.”

Coming to his co-stars Namik says, “Vikram (Singh Chauhan) is a big prankster; he sometimes ties my shoe laces while I am asleep. Donal (Bisht) is really kicked about her first lead role; her excitement reminds me of my debut lead show Ek Duje Ke Vaaste.”

Best of luck, Namik!!
