Marathi actor Akshay Kelkar, who is currently enthralling audiences as Abhishek, in SAB TV’s Bhakharwadi, says that it feels good to come out of the comfort zone and try new things.
“I always crave to do something new and explore myself. I was working in my comfort zone by doing Marathi shows and movies. Now, I challenged myself by taking up Bhakarwadi. I did not know proper Hindi. With this show, I started learning. I have became a director’s actor. Whatever my director says I perform. I was not well versed with Hindi because I have always spoken in my mother tongue and also I stay in an area where all Maharashtrians stay.”
He continues, “It is also a learning experience for me. I think they needed a person who cannot speak Hindi properly so that the character of Abhishek looks real. I am happy doing my debut Hindi show as a lead with a big banner and channel. It is surreal. We have a great team of writers on board that makes the show look real.”
Ask about his working experience with Deven Bhojani, he adds, “Deven Sir is working since 3 decades, yet he is humble and grounded. The man has zero attitude. He is very down to earth and a great teacher. He helps and supports me whenever needed, be it with dialogues or acting. I have got a good mentor on set. Initially, when the show was offered to me, there was a huge responsibility as I was playing the lead in the show. However, we have a great bunch of talent in the show, which makes it a complete entertainment package.”
Way to go boy!
