Veteran actor Rajev Paul is on seventh heaven with his comeback Star Bharat show Jiji Maa (Jay Productions) doing very well.
Says Rajev, “We started just two months back and have now reached 1.5 which is no mean task. The channel leader is Kya Haal Mr. Paanchal with 1.9 but it has been on air for four months. Having being privy to the upcoming story board, I am confident that we would be #1 on the channel in a matter of months.”
He goes on, “Some might question my statement saying how a show on a newer channel can become Numero Uno. But our Jaipur based show of the clash of a rich woman Uttara Devi (Pallavi Pradhan) with a plain Jane Falguni (Tanvi Dogra) is already giving known properties like Bigg Boss a run for their money. Many other shows on bigger channels are not doing as well as we are. The creative team is confident that we have the legs to go up to 2 or 3 TVR, and as of now Kumkum Bhagya tops the chart with 2.9. So we can certainly ace it. The most important thing to note is that there we are having consistent week on week growth.”
Ask him as to what makes the show tick and he says, “We have the right story and great characterization. Full credit to the writer (Mayur Puri), directors and channel for coming together to stitch a great product. Star Bharat certainly knows its audience; we have shown relatively unknown facets of Jaipur.”
“Having been around for years and being part of superhit shows like Swabhimaan, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Nach Baliye, I know what is needed and we surely have all those trappings,” he adds on.
His last TV appearance was Bigg Boss back in 2013 He had also recently acted in a short film titled To A New Beginning.
Coming to his personal character in Jiji Maa he says, “Although Jayant seems henpecked for now, his graph and back story will open up big time. Plus my look is very young; I am looking like the lead while playing the father. He is shown to be a fitness freak. He is quite powerful in his own right and does not resent playing second fiddle to his more powerful better half.”
“It was a challenge to play a father of a grownup and a man who has been wed for over 25 year as I am not. But yes, both of us enjoy the smaller pleasures of life. Personally I am quite chilled out. If I am not working I am busy with stock market or writing books.”
Have a blast of a time in Jiji Maa, Rajev!!
