I never let success get into my head: Chitrashi Rawat

In conversation with Chitrashi Rawat part of SAB TV’s Shankar Jai Kishan- 3 in 1

Bollywood daredevil, Chitrashi Rawat, who was last seen in Tu Mera Hero, is popular for her role in movie Chak De India. She is currently playing the character of Simple Kapoor in SAB TV’s latest offering Shankar Jai Kishan- 3 in 1.

Simple is the youngest sister of the three Kapoor daughters. Unlike her name, Simple’s life is supremely complicated. She believes that everything should work in her favour and always spins situations to suit her choices. She is forever doubtful about her surroundings and counter questions Kishan (her beau interest). To add to this, she is a judo expert and one can always find Kishan seeking shelter behind her whenever he is in trouble.

When we ask why she accepted this role, she shares, “I was offered a lot of mytho and daily shows but I was not keen on taking up. I can carry heavy jewellery but everyday shooting for a long period of time with them becomes a task. When I got the offer from Shankar Jai Kishan – 3 in 1 I really loved the script and went for the audition. I was selected for the role. I enjoy comedy genre as I don’t like glycerin and rona dhona. I had earlier worked with SAB TV; there is no pressure as there is camaraderie, so I am happy. However, in real life if my partner has 3 wives, I would have taken his case left, right and centre. I hate liars so would have not accepted it.”

Talking about the current scenario of TV, she avers, “I think in TV industry, we have evolved in some areas and we still have to develop in few areas. I feel Sony TV gets good content but they never work. Audience is not supporting good content. Although, creatively they are giving us satisfaction but viewers don’t enjoy them. I think there should be more finite series.”

Chitrashi feels digital is ruling the space, “I think digital has taken over as it is gives that freedom which TV doesn’t provide.  It is good for actors as well. Initially there were good web series. Like TV shows, now everyone is turning a producer and making web series too. I feel the exclusivity has gone. I would really love to do a web series in future.”

So has the glam world changed her as a person, she answers “Not really, I was very young when I entered the industry. I have taken up good shows, with amazing producers and directors. Obviously, when I look back at my decisions, I think I could have been wiser but I could manage to survive in the industry and that is a good thing. When I came in this fraternity, there was no one to guide me.”

She further adds, “I never let success get into my head. My parents have always taught me to be humble and grounded. This industry is very unpredictable so you should never forget about your struggle days. My upbringing has saved me. Mumbai and entertainment industry demands a high maintenance life so it is difficult to survive. I am blessed to be living a happy life.”

Good luck girl!
