With Daayan, I graduate from playing a next-door boy to a charming man: Mohit Malhotra

Mohit Malhotra who has mostly played the chocolate boy avatar on TV will get into a classy avatar for &TV’s horror and thriller show, Daayan.

Produced by Balaji Telefilms, Daayan will be Mohit’s first show in this varied genre.

Says Mohit, “It is a genre that I have never tried. Also this is a genre that has been working with the viewers for sometime now. So it made sense for me to pick this up. Also, you get to perform on a lot of things that you don’t get to do in the regular shows. So I am happy that I have got this varied opportunity to showcase my craft.”

Talking about his character, he states, “Akarsh Chaudhary is a modern guy, very rich and owns a palace that he runs as a hotel. He is ambitious and does not believe in supernatural powers and superstitions. The story will unfold when he will fall for Jhanvi (Tina Datta), and he will be required to save her from the problems she faces.”

“The genre definitely is one main reason for me to take up this show. Otherwise, I have played the lover boy roles initially in my career. So this is different from what I have played earlier. He is a suave and classy man with all the power and elegance. It is like graduating from playing a next-door boy to a charming man,” he adds.

Mohit feels that with time, one needs to progress by playing different kinds of roles. “As an actor, it is important to keep progressing, showcasing the variety that you can offer.”

Mohit whose claim to fame show was Mitwa Phool Kamal Ke, has been part of TV shows Sasural Genda Phool, Bade Achhe Laggte Hain, Kya hua Teraa Vadaa, Beintehaa, Jamai Raja, Chupke Chupke.

Mohit who was away from TV for sometime was working on his travel blogs. “It is like coming back home with TV and to work with Balaji Telefilms is an honour.”

He has a word or two to tell his fans. “You can look forward to a new me in Daayan. I will be seen in a different genre altogether and in a very classy look. The story will be gripping and interesting. My request to my fans is to shower love on me in the same way they did for my earlier projects.”

Best of luck, Mohit!!
