Vijayendra Kumeria has earned himself legions of fans across the nation in recent years, following his hugely successful career on the small screen. He rose to fame with Udaan and now currently he is seen as Darsh Rawal in Star Plus’ new show Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha. Talking about his character, he says, “The first briefing of the show was so good that I really liked the character and concept. I was waiting for something challenging hence I agreed to be a part of it. My character Darsh happens to be one of the toughest characters that I have essayed so far in my acting career which challenges me to the best of my ability. I hope to capture the audience’s attention once again with this show.”
Darsh is a visually impaired person in the show, so what challenges did he face? “There were many challenges as I can actually see but I have to pretend that I have the disability. Plus, despite the disability, the character is full of life. Having said that, so far things are shaping well. Before we started shooting, I did proper research to pick up the body language hence it was not difficult. I saw various films which have visually impaired protagonists like Sparsh (1980’s Bollywood Film starring Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi in lead roles) and the Scent of a Woman (1992 American Drama Film starring Veteran & Method Actor Al Pacino) to seek inspiration. I have not copied any character but picked up the body language and made my character very organic. Now, the viewers will see and they would judge,” adds Vijayendra.
On an end note, Vijayendra feels the show is unique and he mentions: “The treatment of the show is different from other contemporary shows. Sometimes in TV shows, you would witness the protagonist as a hero. Here Darsh has a disability, he is an underdog. These are the few things that make the show unique. The entire cast and crew are good and the environment is very positive on the show. Richa is a very hard-working girl. Narayani is a fabulous actress. I want audiences to watch the show as I am sure they would love the character.”
