Desi youth need to upgrade themselves regarding social media: Rishi Dev

Rishi Dev who is part of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai talks about his show and his YouTube channel Rimorav Vlogs.

Actor Rishi Dev who has been acting since childhood in Punjabi TV, regards choosing Star  Plus show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, as his best decision in life.

“Any actor who enters this ten year old hit show gets instant recognition, and if you do well, it is icing on the cake,” he states.

Rishi’s other Hindi TV shows have included I Luv My India, Bani – Ishq Da Kalma, Balika Vadhu, etc.

Besides acting, Rishi and rumoured girl friend and Yeh Rishta co-star, Mohena Singh (Naksh and Keerti in the Director’s Kut show) have started a YouTube channel called Rimorav Vlogs, which he claims will soon hit more than a million subscribers. “It all boils down to good content.”

Could this be the reason why your last TV show, Bade Bhaiya ki Dulhaniya (Sony), shut down quickly? “Maybe; the fact is that the audience did not warm up to our story. However, I will not call it a flop. The makers were always clear that they wanted to try something different. I learnt to be natural in that show.”

Coming back to the content of Rimorav Vlogs, Rishi says, “As opposed to others, my partner, Mohena and I prefer light-hearted real life content, as you must have seen on our video blog.”

“This is one more reason why we don’t want to go for branded content, as that will require our story-board to be made as per the client’s wish and we want to be free to say what we want. Even if we do go down that road in the future, we will be careful not make it look overtly like promoting a particular brand,” he avers.

Rishi, who has uploaded over 100 such videos, refused to name any particular one as hit, for all have got good traction. The earliest ones to taste success were Golgappa and Ice Bath Challenge.”

“I am having a great experience connecting with the young crowd. One reason for our success could be that we are receptive to what our target audiences want, and we accordingly tailor make content as per comments. Digital marketing is much more personal and different from TV. I still feel that youth needs to upgrade themselves regarding social media and YouTube,” the young lad quips.

The best part of Rimorav Vlogs is that it makes our fans aware of what Mohena and Rishi do, post pack-up. “We have a great equation and will continue to do so,” ends he.
