Divyanka is one of my best friends on Yeh Hai Mohabbatein set: Shireen Mirza

Although most Yeh Hai Mohabbatein fans are still miffed with Shireen Mirza, aka Simran, for turning negative in the show 6 months back, she is taking it in her stride. “These online kids don’t understand that I have nothing personal against their Ishita (Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya). They even start fighting amongst themselves. However, I am cool with the love or hate. Divyanka and I have even posted joint seflies to calm them down, but alas.”

Shireen, who began with theater, before bagging the above hit Star Plus show, adds, “To be honest, after playing positive for long, I was unsure of being able to carry off the vamp, but my creative convinced me otherwise. I am glad I agreed, for a negative character plays with many more shades. Simmi only came into her own, post Ananya’s death.”

“Also, being a part of the industry, I know that finally what matters is TRP, and once that comes, nothing can stop you. No wonder, Simmi is getting darker by the day.”

What makes this show tick? “Undoubtedly, the chemistry between Raman (Karan Patel) and Ishita, and also the equation between Ishima and Pihu (Ruhanika Dhawan), is the mainstay of the show. Every show goes through ups and downs, but our story has always been strong enough to weather the tide since the past four years.”

Shireen calls Divyanka one of her best friends on set. “I can unhesitatingly turn to her for guidance. At first, I thought her to be a fake, because can anyone really be so sweet? But she really is, and I admitted as much to her. We also hang out after work, discussing work and personal life.”

Besides TV, Shireen is game for web series, “As it is the new rage. But it should match my TV dates, which are chalk-a- block with my current show. I have already started my web career with an Anurag Kashyap produced short.”

She would not have major issues with the dare-bare avatar, “But I have my own limitations.”

Shireen also has done a few flicks. “My English film on human trafficking released internationally. A couple of my other Hindi flicks are also held up, as I don’t have dates to finish my patchwork.”

Continue your good work, Shireen!!
