Zain Imam who plays the leading role of Teerth Mittal in Colors’ show Suman Indori looks forward to celebrating Diwali with his extended family on the show. He has vivid memories of the festival from his childhood.
In a talk with IWMBuzz.com, Zain talks about his Diwali plans.
How is Diwali this year special for you?
I will be celebrating Diwali on set with my Suman Indori family and it will be so heartwarming. We are one big extended family now, and this year, the festival feels like an even bigger celebration of the bonds we have formed. I am also excited to take home some of that energy and celebrate with my real family. You know how it is—festivals just hit differently when your heart’s full.
What are the best memories of the festival?
I remember as a kid, I would wait for the house to light up with diyas and that buzz in the air with everyone running around, prepping sweets, decorating.
On the set, you get ready for many festival sequences, so this Diwali, what are you planning to wear in your real life?
It’s funny because we have done so many festival scenes where I am in these grand, traditional outfits, but in real life, I like to keep it a mix of classy and comfortable. This Diwali, I am thinking of going for something a bit more subtle—maybe a well-fitted kurta in a deep, royal shade. I want to keep it festive but also something I can run around in, with my cousins without worrying about creases!
Any memories of shooting a Diwali sequence?
Oh, absolutely! The vibe on set during Diwali sequences or any other festivals is electric, and everyone on set is in high spirits, even after long hours of shooting. I remember between takes, we would sneak in some mithai, laugh, and just enjoy the moment—it didn’t feel like work at all. There’s something magical about shooting festival sequences because you get to live those moments twice: once on camera and once in real life.
What makes you most happy on Diwali?
The happiness on people’s faces, for sure. Also, not going to lie, the sweets are a big win! And being a bit of a foodie, Diwali is like heaven on earth. If I’m not shooting, you will probably find me at the food table, enjoying all the traditional dishes with friends! Nothing makes me happier than seeing people share smiles, food, and love during Diwali.
Happy Diwali to all!!
