#Diwali2024: I would buy clay diyas and donate to the needy: Rinku Ghosh 924130

Actress Rinku Ghosh, who was last seen in the Dangal TV show Anokha Bandhan looks forward to celebrating the festival of lights, Diwali in a grand manner.

She says about the significance of the festival to her, “Diwali, to me, means the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. It also means spending quality time with friends and family, and creating new memories.”

“I love how everyone puts up lights. Every corner of the city is so lit up and decorated on Diwali; it feels so good. It instantly lifts my mood,” she adds.

Like every year, she is going to make Rangoli and decorate her house with diyas and lights. She adds, “I do puja in the evening, and at night, I go to the Kali temple to offer my prayers.”

Rinku is allergic to crackers and celebrates a cracker-free Diwali. She says, “I feel giddy from the smell and noise. That said, I don’t advocate against it—it’s a celebration of joy, so everyone has the right to celebrate the way they want. Personally, I feel bursting crackers is like burning money and causing pollution. It’s not helping the environment anyway. I would rather buy clay diyas from the kumhars and donate to the needy.”

A fan of sarees, she loves wearing traditional clothes. She avers, “For me, dressing traditionally is a must for any religious festival. That’s our Indian culture.”

While she loves homemade karanjis and namkeen, she also feels sweets are the best gifts for Diwali.

A favourite childhood Diwali memory? “As kids, we used to visit melas with my parents and cousins, enjoying rides on the giant wheel and merry-go-rounds, and indulging in the eateries there. It used to be so much fun,” Rinku concludes.

Happy Diwali to all of you!!
