Naina Singh, who plays one of the new leads Rhea in the long-running super hit Zee TV show, Kumkum Bhagya, is taking the trolling by angry Sriti Jha, Shabbir Ahluwalia fans in her stride. The hashtag demanding emphasis shifting back to Pragya (Sriti) and Abhishek (Shabir), has been trending on social media.

“I can’t understand the fuss. After five long years, the story needs to move on and that is where Mugdha Chaphekar and I step in. How long can you show the same stuff?”

“Rather than hating, fans must love us because eventually it will be due to the efforts of Prachi and Rhea that estranged parents Pragya and Abhishek might come close again,” says Naina, who has also been part of MTV India’s Splitsvilla 10, and India’s Next Superstars.

Does it affect you guys?

“Speaking for myself, I don’t lose sleep over it. You can’t please everyone. And honestly, I don’t really have the time to trawl through SM after a hard day at work. I am also aware that this is just a temporary phase.”

“Here I must agree that at first it was a bit edgy to work with Sriti Jha and Shabbir as our on-screen parents, given that there is hardly any age gap, but now things have evened out. Shabbir and Sriti are the best co-actors anybody can get.”

“Some of the most nasty comments come from some attention-seekers, who know that nobody will bother about them if they write good. I don’t only get bad comments. I have won many fans who love my acting efforts as well, despite the fact that Rhea is negative. This character graph of mine is also insulated from a lot of the above badgering as I am not the positive lead.”

“All said and done, despite all the abuse, they are still watching the show. No wonder we continue to be #1, so it’s no great shakes.”

“In closing, I would just request the fans to forgive us for any mistakes. Pls shower us with the same love as you have been doing with Sriti and Shabbir. The show must go on. We all are working very hard to win your affection.”
