My favourite love saga has always been Mughal-E-Azam: Heli Daruwala

Actress Heli Daruwala who has always played the modern roles is happy to have got the opportunity to play a historic character.

As we know, Heli has recently joined the cast of Dastaan-E-Mohabbat: Salim Anarkali on Colors produced by Writers’ Galaxy.

Says Heli who was part of Naagin 3, “Being a Kathak dancer, my favourite love saga has always been Mughal-E-Azam. When I was offered a role in Salim Anarkali, I grabbed it immediately. I like playing the Indian roles; it is a different space altogether.”

Talking about Manbai, her character, Heli states, “She is a princess warrior. Manbai is very adamant and gets extremely upset when things do not go her way. You can say that she is a pampered girl in her family. With her now meeting the grown-up Salim for the first time, she is in awe of him. Of course, there is Anarkali too. And the story ahead will go through lots of twist and turns.”

Ask her about sharing screen space with Shaheer Sheikh and Sonarika Bhadoria and she avers, “They both are very sweet. In fact all on the set have been so warm and welcoming. The senior actors on the show are too good; there is so much to learn from them. Even for a second, I did not feel that I was entering a show which is already set.”

Before winding up, we asked her about her emphatic Naagin 3 journey and she says, “I miss the show a lot. I miss working with the cast. I cannot tham Balaji Telefilms enough for giving me the role. Well, one good thing is that I am still with Colors, in another show. As of now, my focus will be on playing Manbai to the best of my abilities.”

Way to go, Heli!!
