I feel iconic shows should return to the small screen as old is gold: Prasad Barve

Talented actor Prasad Barve, who recently replaced Sameer Shah in SAB TV’s show Shrimaan Shrimati Phir Se, says that old is always gold, on the current trend of shows making a comeback on the screen.

He said, “I feel iconic shows should return to the small screen as old is gold. When Khichdi returned on the small screen, I wished J D sir, as I am also a huge fan of the show. I am blessed to be a part of the reprised Shrimaan Shrimati Phir Se. I don’t get into replacements, but for this series I did, because I share a good relationship with the channel SAB TV. And who doesn’t want to play an iconic character of a path-breaking show. I immediately agreed to do the show. It was my fantasy to play such an iconic character in my career. I don’t know about the longevity of the character and show but I am enjoying each shade of it.”

He continued, “I want to do more versatile roles in my career. If I stop exploring, then my growth as an actor would also stop. I have not only explored comical roles but also intense in some daily soaps. An actor should never be satisfied with his role. I have yet not explored periodic and fantasy based dramas hence would love to take up something along those lines in future.”

When asked about the growing web space, he added, “I feel, in the name of youth content, digital is only selling pornography and abusive things. I don’t believe in these types of things. I understand that change is necessary and this change is also accepted by audiences, but content is only getting bolder. Audiences connect with it because abusing has become part of our daily life. I only feel this change should not change the entire industry. I will do something like this if the role demands the same, but unnecessarily dragging it to gain few viewers is not my cup of tea.”

Well said, Prasad!
