Shakti Mohan is a fabulous dancer who has come a long way in nurturing her dance skills after coming into the limelight by winning Dance India Dance Season 2 in 2009.
A series of great performances as a dancer in reality shows, not only helped Shakti prove her mettle as a dancer, but she was also successful in living her dream of opening a dance academy.
Today, she nurtures the talent of many aspiring dancers from all over, through her renowned dance academy which is named Nritya Shakti Studio.
In an exclusive conversation with IWMBuzz.com, Shakti Mohan talks about her life revolving all around her dance, about her sisters and on her future aspirations.

Shakti, what keeps you busy during this phase of stay at home?
I love this time at home. Self-care is the agenda. My sisters and I have super healthy food, we watch series online, workout in the evenings. Call our parents every day and talk to them. Spreading love and positivity at this time is essential.
You have come a long way as an actor, dancer. Your music videos are also a rage. What do you enjoy the most?
I love dancing the most. That’s my true love. I enjoy teaching and Choreography too. Having a studio in Mumbai was a dream for me. To see so many students come from different parts of the world to learn inspires me on a daily basis to continue working hard.
Tell us about the tasks you undertake to nurture new dancers at Nritya Shakti.
I have initiated programs for professional and beginner level dancers at Nritya Shakti Studio. At this time of lockdown, we have started Virtual Classroom where students from any part of the world can train and stay fit.
How does dancing keep you relaxed and rejuvenated? Take us through the process.
It’s mentally calming to dance. It is a way to communicate with your soul and feel liberated.
What are your future aspirations with respect to your passion to dance?
I will always continue to dance, teach and choreograph. I feel proud to call myself a Dancer. I don’t understand why people address me as an actor. I am not. I am very happy and fulfilled to pursue dance.
The Mohan family has been extremely popular with all the siblings doing really well. Tell us about it and take us through the happy phases in everyone’s career.
Reality shows have given all of us a break in this industry. When we started off none of has had any clue where to go and what to do. We followed our hearts and I feel we were very fortunate to have received love and admiration from people who supported us.
I don’t understand why people address me as an actor. I am not. I am very happy and fulfilled to pursue dance.
Who are you closer with when it comes to the connect with your siblings.
I am super close to all of my sisters and parents. All relationships are different but yet super tight. My dad and I enjoy business talks, mom and I do lots of masti and personal chats, Neeti Didi is like my Godmother, so I talk to her about how she inspires me and constantly supports me, Kriti di is the backbone of the family. She helps each and every person in the family-like crazy, she doesn’t give up till something is done, be it personal or professional. Mukti is my naughty little brat sister, we fight the most and love each other the most. We are more like friends.
Do you sisters help each other out when the other needs any professional advice?
Yes always.

A fan of mine showed me a tattoo on Instagram live chat. He had two tattoos – My face and name written on one arm and the other one had Nritya Shakti logo. I was amazed to see that. That was super sweet of him but getting a permanent tattoo for life is something I don’t encourage.
